pinnedbangs | 5th Struggle [Video/Action] Celadon City/Route 7

[Poochy's in charge of the Gear today, and with good reason. She's has decided to take it upon herself to call for help because her pig-headed companion was too much of a pig-head to do so himself. Poochy nudges the camera in one direction, and it slowly focuses on a Charmander and Quilava, both who have huddled closer to the crouching figure of their trainer. Said trainer had a indigo hue rather than its normal bluish one. His ears were only slightly pointed, but it was hard to tell with all of his hair in the way.]

I don't care what those two simpletons say: humans who suddenly start using fire moves or some of that other stuff I've been seeing aren't normal. Don't tell me all of you other pokemon think the same as those two!!

[She makes sure to keep out of view as she inches just a little closer to the group. Quilava has taken residence on his lap, curling its body around him. It seemed content compared to Charmander. The fire lizard kept trying to crawl onto Rin as well, going so far as to nip his arm a few times.]

Cut it out! [Something seemed to flash in Rin's eyes, but it was gone in a second. Charmander whined but hadn't stopped trying to get closer to Rin.] Since when did you become so clingy? [He petted Charmander as gently as he could, despite himself. He spoke quietly and as gently as he could.]

I'm fine. I only over-reacted earlier. ...Sorry. But you see that I'm okay now, right?

[He smiled widely, showing of row after row of sharp teeth. There's a haunted look in his eyes, one he's trying hard to cover up.]

Besides, these aren't mine... [The teeth? The fangs? The ears? The hair? He's not clarifying and Poochy doesn't particularly care. She only wants to get his attention (or better yet, those two fire-types). It's not until Poochy barks that he realizes the audience he might have had. In a moment of sheer panic, a few will-o-wisp emerge, heading right for Poochy.] Shit, no!!

[Rin runs right towards her, and the gear, determined to shield her from the burn-inflicting move but he trips over it, landing face first on the other unseen side. Unseen, Poochy takes this moment to make her move and run as far away from Rin as she possibly can.

But instead of running after her, Rin squats and slowly stands up. He's picked up the camera along the way and glances at it for only a moment before stuffing it into his pocket. That haunted look has returned and doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Rin takes off after her, leaving his Quilava and Charmander to try and follow after him.]

[Poor boy...she actually feels sorry for him right now. Too bad there's nothing she can do to help]

Who knows. My Pokemon have never seemed unhappy about it. [For all they know there could be a resort inside the Pokeballs...after all this is Johto]

[Even if she couldn't do much, her words were encouraging. Well, mostly encouraging. He still had his doubts.]

... Not even once? The others don't seem to mind it as much as she does. [A Poochy-specific resort, huh.]

[She shakes her head]

Some of them would rather stay out given the choice...but they've never made a fuss about it. [Just about as logical as a Pokemon fitting inside a tiny ball!]

[He reaches into his pocket for Poochy's pokeball. At least it didn't look rusted over from disuse.]

Then she won't either, once I find her! [That determined look is back in his eyes. He was going to find Poochy before nightfall or get lost trying!]

Hm...I guess I should leave you to it then.

[His pride as a man wants to agree but the little boy inside desires the company. Rin quietly considers the options before smiling.]

Not much you can do from Johto. I mean, unless you have any idea how poochyena work and where they might run to? ...I don't have much of a starting point.

[Aww, Rin. Unfortunately you don't get a smile back, but at least she's trying to think of something that might be useful]

I've never had one so I wouldn't know...but maybe the Pokedex could tell you something.

[She was sort of encouraging? Rin tries the pokedex but it doesn't help him as much as he'd like it to. Meanwhile his pokemon have moved on ahead of him, searching and calling out Poochy's name.]

[She's about to comment on the nickname...but they manage catch her attention instead]

Do you think one of your Pokemon could track her by scent?

[She's not familiar with Charmander or Quilava...but it was a possibility]

[He shakes his head. After all, Poochy was the dog and the one who usually tracked thing by scent for him.

But speaking of his pokemon, he did have another dark type -- and two flying types!]

That's it! I wouldn't have thought of this if it wasn't for you! My pokemon can't track Poochy by scent but they can see her from the sky if they fly high enough.

[ALL RIGHT HE WAS BACK ON TARGET! Soba the Murkrow comes out of its pokeball, followed closely by Pidegeot.]

Soba, if you fly just under the branches and ahead of me we can find Poochy. She's probably hiding close to the ground. ...And Birdie, you can probably spot her before us if you fly above the tree tops! We're definitely going to find her now! [Rin's looking much happier than he had before. He almost forgets Rima on the line, as eager as he was to begin this more organized search.]

Really, Loli, I mean it. Thanks a lot. [He's quiet for just a second, a warm smile on his face.] You're a good friend.

[Just watches from the other end of the line as he puts his ideas together. It sounds like a pretty good plan...as long as the he doesn't lose his birds and the forest isn't full of other Poochyenas...but at least he's cheered up and isn't wandering blindly into some unknown territory]

...you're welcome... [She hadn't expected him to call her that...they might have known each other for months now but befriending humans just wasn't something she usually did back home...even with the vampire-human barrier removed, getting close to the people here had never been part of her list of objectives...

For a moment, she's silent too...then] ...and it's Rima. [...because if he was going to think of her as a friend they really should know each others names...]

[Wandering blindly usually serves him well, not counting the many pitfalls he makes along the way. To him, she was about as close to "friend" as he could get, not counting the other guys he came to know via pokegear.

But there was just something special about those first few people who helped him out that first day. He still remembers their faces, if nothing else. From time to time he'll think about contacting them but it didn't help that he had no idea who it was he should contact.

He's all smiles now, however, until she speaks.]

Rima? [what is this rima she speaks of -- oh wait. name. ok got it. . . . that's funny, he could have sworn her name was loli.] I'm Rin Okumura. [because introducing himself as just "Okumura" has yet to cross his mind.]

[Even though Rima was anything other than helpful during their first conversation: "You're not getting your sword back and you should stop guessing because your guesses are terrible."

...well at least it was memorable. And he gained points for not squealing at her when he found out she was a model. ~~She doesn't need to know it's because he doesn't think it's true.~~

...I guess too late to say "nice to meet you". [Just about six months too late...]

[. . . Yeah. She wasn't really all that helpful but she had offered guidance? Sort of?

Squealing's for small children and pigs. And Rin is neither of those things. There are moments when he squeaks but that's puberty and nothing more. ~~He'll never believe her unless she provides proof.~~]

Never too late to say that. It's still great to meet you, Rima.

[He's not even gonna be sheepish because THIS IS THE START OF AWESOME FRIEND STUFF even though she's a girl.]

[...not at all. But that's a very nice way of remembering it!

She agrees with that. Now if only the Day Class students at Cross Academy shared that understanding. Then she wouldn't have to walk through screaming fans on her way to class every evening. Rima appreciates her fans, but seriously... ~~It he wants her to smile...that's probably never going to happen...~~]
