7th Struggle [Action/Video] New Bark Town ... Again

[SUN. BRIGHT, SUNSHINEY SUN. It's so bright, it's almost as bad as getting blinded by snow. But that lasts for only a minute before the gear swings into focus on a face.

A very familiar looking face. Or maybe he wasn't familiar at all and those bright blue eyes, wild black hair, and somewhat sharp teeth were a new and unusual sight.

That person with the familiar looking face had an equally familiar looking Poochyena that had, lovingly, sunk her jaws into his skull. He's dealt with worse before, but he obviously wasn't too happy about his situation.

The Poochyena on the other hand, looked absolutely thrilled to be gnawing on her trainer once more.]

She's been doing this for fifteen minutes... [Fifteen minutes before he was just getting kicked out into New Bark and realizing that he had not dreamt up his time in Johto.]

... How do I make her stop? I can't feel much of my head anymore.

Oh yeah, there's a Foster Home! [Not to mention that fact that he worked there way back when, but that thought hardly crosses his mind -- ] Wouldn't they have contacted me by now?

[Oh, but it would be nice if any of them were there. It would be nice to see Birdie again.

At the sound of that name, Rin nods his head. Yep, he totally did remember that name. It was nice to know that Cecil remembered him too.]

Uh, thanks? [awkward teenage laugh goes here] Yeah, it's Rin.

They might not have seen your message yet. With so many departures over the months, the remaining employees must be very busy.

[At least he's pretty sure that there's still one.]

I remembered a third of it? Not too bad. It's a pleasure to see you again, Rin.

Y'mean a lot of people have gone back home, like I did?

[Let's see here... that would mean that some of the people he used to know are gone too. That was discouraging...]

Hey, that's not bad at all! Better than missing it completely! [Or calling him Spawn of Satan, or bastard child, or whatever.] Pleasure! Did ya catch anything new?

Yes. Even trainers that had been here for years...

[But that's too depressing a subject.]

Not much. I've only obtained four new Pokémon this year, and two were from another trainer. ...Oh, but you just missed an undead fossil invasion. They were everywhere for a few days, I think nearly everyone managed to catch one.

How many years? [Gosh, that's a freaky thought.

And it's good that they have happier topics to talk about!]

Undead fossil invasion?! You mean there were zombies?!!! And I missed that?!!!

I know of at least one trainer that had been here for about two years and a half before he disappeared.

[Which is much more than the average, really.]

Undead Rock-types everywhere, yes. A seance turned badly and they were... disturbed, you could say.

What the hell? Whose bright idea was that?!

[Rampaging Onix don't need a special seance, though.]

A reporter disappeared some months ago. His coworkers wished to know if he could still be found alive. It... didn't work as planned.

[That's quite a sobering topic.]

Did they ever find their co-worker?

...A Yamask appeared before the fossils started acting up. That might have been him.

[To that, Rin feels more than a little confused. Yamask was a pokemon, for sure, but it wasn't anything like a dark type that appears when a person dies. Rather than ask, he whips out his pokedex and checks out the entry for Yamask.

It makes him physically ill to read it. To have been that coworker and found that your friend had died - and to have changed so drastically -- Unconsciously he reaches up to Poochy, partially to help her adjust her weight and partially... partially for comfort.]

... Does that mean if we -- [die here] -- we'll become Pokémon too?

[A very sad look crosses his face. Try as he might to avoid the memory, it trickled back to the front of his mind little by little. He didn't want to remember that day. Not now. Not even when he was reminded of it, if only through association.]

I doubt it. Yamask can breed as easily as any other Pokémon, and the resulting children were never human. If every dead person became one of them, between those and the eggs they would be much more common.

[But then again, for a few days they had been- No. He crushes that thought before it can fully form itself.]

[As odd as it was, Cecil's rational made sense. But it did bring another question to mind.]

I guess so... In the end, it's more like reincarnation. The yamask are happy, right? [They get kids, a free ride with a trainer, travel... seems exciting.]

They mostly are, from what I can tell. I imagine an unpleasant trainer would change that, but it would be the exception rather than the rule.

[Then again, he's hasn't had the chance to talk to many of them.]
