7th Struggle [Action/Video] New Bark Town ... Again

[SUN. BRIGHT, SUNSHINEY SUN. It's so bright, it's almost as bad as getting blinded by snow. But that lasts for only a minute before the gear swings into focus on a face.

A very familiar looking face. Or maybe he wasn't familiar at all and those bright blue eyes, wild black hair, and somewhat sharp teeth were a new and unusual sight.

That person with the familiar looking face had an equally familiar looking Poochyena that had, lovingly, sunk her jaws into his skull. He's dealt with worse before, but he obviously wasn't too happy about his situation.

The Poochyena on the other hand, looked absolutely thrilled to be gnawing on her trainer once more.]

She's been doing this for fifteen minutes... [Fifteen minutes before he was just getting kicked out into New Bark and realizing that he had not dreamt up his time in Johto.]

... How do I make her stop? I can't feel much of my head anymore.

But I didn't abandon her! It's not like I chose to leave her and the others behind.

[It hurt to hear that sort of accusation, but it wasn't going to change the fact that Poochy might have felt that way. Suddenly her gnawing didn't seem so malicious anymore.

When he left Johto, he thought he had woken up from a very vivid dream. Months had passed for him, life went on, and ... he pushed it out of mind.

But here he was. And here was that ONE GUY being the very same as he was before. And here was Poochy, growling away.]

...Where was she this whole time I was gone? [Don't say stuck in the pokeball don't say stuck in the pokeball --]

[He totally meant that her voice was pretty regal sounding. But her face (now that he could see it) was definitely, DEFINITELY, the face of a princess noble girl.

With glasses.

And a pretty smile.]

It's not a problem~. My name's Rin Okumura. I'm used to her doing it before on my arms but this is the first time she's gone for my head. [And she was starting to loosen up since she couldn't hold that position for very long. She was growling a little less, too.] The PokeMart should have toys.

[Hey, what was with that face?! Poochy's growling a little more. But she is content.]

I never said I hated it... And it's not like I'm letting her use me like a chew toy!

[...It was the "Idiot" look, wasn't it.] Poochy's got really good agility too!!

[ at the sight of the two of them, she releases a giggle. ]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Okumura-san. I'm sure that along with having something to chew on, she'd be very happy to receive a gift from her trainer. Think of it as a bonding experience! I'd come to help you, but unfortunately I have no means of efficient travel at the moment. If there's anything I can do to help you, please say and I will try my best.

...Um, what does her agility have to do with it?

[Yep, it's the "idiot" look, though not necessarily out of condescension so much as...confusion.]

So are you saying after a while she's just going to stop? Because you could have said that instead of asking all of us how to make her stop. Or get her an actual chew toy.

[At least boys being stupid is universal. Comforting??]

[Oh man, now he was getting all emotional here -- even Poochy's head-numbing gnawing wasn't going to put a damper on that grin!]

It's been too long! I -- I hadn't realized I've been gone so long. [THANKS A LOT KARKAT FOR DRIVING THAT POINT HOME] Have you gotten more badges?

I don't think I've met a Totodile yet... Is it like a crocodile? [He doesn't remember what one looks like but he's sure he might have seen it before.]

I can deal with a lot of pain. [Not bragging, just stating a fact that has way too much evidence to support it for his liking.] Has Fleshripper gone for your throat?

It means that she's hard to dodge! When she comes at your face like she did to me, it'll be hard to get out of her way!

She's supposed to... I'm saying that she hasn't stopped. And I've tried all the other things and I have no idea what to do this time. I tried getting her to fight other pokemon, I tried food, the nearest PokeMart's in Cherrygrove... I get that she's sad or happy to see me, but I might need the Jaws of Life to get her off!

[Why can't he just understand Pokémon talk? Why couldn't she just aim for his arm like always...

HE WAS GOING TO GO BALD IF THIS CONTINUED... Maka, no, how is that comforting???]

[Because if boys are stupid universally, she doesn't have to reexamine that particular line of thought, obviously.]

Sorry...are you sure you haven't tried everything? Like I said, you could just ask her to stop, or even return her to the Pokeball until you get to the next town. Yes, it might bother her, but what's a little bruised ego compared to having your head intact?

It's good to meet you too! [Yup. She was most definitely a princess.] I think she's just happy to see me. She has weird ways of telling me things.

I'd be more than happy to give her one. Don't worry about that. I've travelled around here before so we'll be okay! I think I'm just going to try to get Poochy to fight a water type to distract her. [He points to that lovely body of water that exists around the edge of town.

Oh! Might I suggest Magikarp? I hear that all they do is flop around and splash, that might be good for her to play with. I arrived in this world only a couple weeks ago, but my companion was a Glameow. If I don't feed him when he wants to be fed, he gets rather fussy.. I suppose both of our Pokemon like their trainer's attention.

Kind of. It's the same kind of head, but the body's smaller and it walks on two legs. I'll show you. FLESHRIPPER! COME HERE!

[That... was too close to the microphone. The camera turns around to show the forest, and shortly there's some rustling and a Totodile hops out of the bushes and runs over, bouncing in happiness.]

This is Fleshripper.

[Fleshripper hops from side-to-side like he's doing a little happy dance, then with a happy "Dile~!" leaps at Domri with his toothy maw open wide. Domri hops back, but Fleshripper bounces when he lands and manages to clamp his jaw around Domri's left forearm. Despite the name, no mauling commences. Instead he just dangles from Domri's arm, looking incredibly happy. He loves his trainer and this is how he shows his love.]

This is what he does all the time. [No, Domri isn't in a lot of pain right now and trying to hide it what are you talking about.] He hasn't gone for my throat yet, he just goes for arms and legs. And tails, with the others sometimes.

I know that, but it's not like they do!

[ Karkat groans, rubbing his temples. if he is honest, he hasn't given much thought as to where Pokémon go when their trainer is gone but comes back. ]

Look, man, I honestly don't know. Sometimes I think they stay at the Adoption Center, but that might not always be the case.

Yeah...Yeah, you're fine. You're going to be fine. Just--I'm going to ask you stay still, okay? [Shit, how do you even take a Poochyena off of someone's head?]

I'm going to get him off of you. Don't move a muscle. [He says as his hand steadily reaches over for the Poochyena.]

That'll complicate matters should you wish to catch them, unless a few decide to take it as a challenge.

[He wouldn't put that past a few of those Rattatas.]

Well, if you're going to train one you might as well start early. I doubt Falkner could do much against a Gyarados.

Think I'll second the helmet suggestion. Even something like a bike helmet should work.

[Plus, they're nowhere near as heavy as a metal helmet. That's always a perk.]

But as far as temporary solutions go, have you tried ripping her off? I used to have a Totodile that did the exact same thing, so I definitely feel for you.

[Though which has the sharper teeth and most dangerous bite? There's a question for the ages.]

I'm not surprised! Time can be a little weird between this world and our home worlds. [And Atsuro still haven't went home. What's up with that, Pokeworld?] And yep! I just got the Boulder Badge the last week, so that makes it my fifteenth badge altogether.

[Well, he could always think about that hurdle when he gets to it, but Familiar Dude had a point.]

Then if it's just a challenge, Poochy and I can take it! We might not have the others [FOR SOME GOD-AWFUL REASON] but I'm sure we could handle it!

[ugh, he can't take it anymore...] Sorry, but what was your name again? I know you were an awesome trainer and you were an explorer too, but that's 'bout it.

Probably... [his thoughts are of the "trapped in a dark void" variety, but would it help either of them to dwell on such things?

So, instead, he reaches up to Poochy and holds her body steady. She was still gnawing away, but at least this way her neck wouldn't hurt from the angle. -- At least, that's what he thought. He tries to pull her off, flicking her nose a little at a time. The pokegear was settled on his lap instead.]

I wouldn't want to catch a Pokémon just so it could become Poochy's chew toy. [Princess, were you really sadistic?!] But I haven't trained a Magikarp yet. It's supposed to evolve into something awesome!

[Oh wow, so not only was Princess Tsubasa really far from where he was, she was also a noob. She must have had a good traveling partner.] They're a lot like us, aren't they.

Well, I haven't tried reading to her. [Seriously. He hasn't tried that.

And I told you, I'm not doin' that! It's not gonna make her any happier for me to stuff her back in there! She's just gonna go for my head the next time I let 'er out.

Rin can't even pull off the whole "YEAH I'M TOTES FINE" card since, yes, he was going to have a pretty nasty bruise. Not that Poochy cared since this was all about love and venting frustrations.]

[Wow it's like a lightbulb went off in her head.]

Reading! Gosh, why didn't I think of that? You could read her a story or sing her a song to settle her down, like a little kid, and when you get to the next town you can get her a doll to chew on.

I mean, Pokemon aren't exactly like human children, but then they're not exactly like pets either, maybe she'd appreciate it?

[Rin you're back!...and you are already a mess, that has to be record. He's probably already use to Kil's unimpressed face anyway.]

Just get her a watermelon to chew on, it's about the thickness as your head.

[It is patient, isn't it? Or was it patience? Either way, Rin doesn't have much of that. ... Not like it matters since this girl was suddenly all smiles and talking about the evils of books -- ...

...y'know, that wasn't that bad of an idea. And that enthusiasm gets him to smile (finally -- she was freakin' him out with her ...selfness.).]

Y'know, that's actually a pretty cool idea! Poochy would love to hear a story, right girl? [She growls in response. They never read books together before, why was he considering it now. But Poochy wouldn't deny that she would like to hear a story. Preferably the one about the stupid pokemon trainer whom she still followed because he was always good to her. ...But still stupid.

Rin (attempts) to think for a moment, keeping one hand on Poochy to hold her steady.]

Too bad I don't have any books with me. ...And I don't sing. [That was in the far, far past. Hmm... what do...?] I couldn't see Poochy as a pet, and when she and I went for the badges, we didn't feel like kids either. I think we're more like partners, y'know?
