4th Struggle [Video/Action] Zephyr Badge getto da ze!

[Lookit this face! Lookit this bright, shining, smiling face that's ready to take on the whole world by storm! And why is that? It might have something to do with that kick-ass badge from the Violet City Gym that he's holding up to the camera.]

They did it! It took a while to figure out how to take him down, but they did it! He only gave me one badge though. Shouldn't there be one for each of them? Guess they'll just take turns. [Like good siblings should. At least he hopes they'll share...] Look at them! They were so happy afterward, I had to treat them to something great today! And since I can afford as much food as I want now, there's more than enough reason to celebrate!

[The camera turns around to take a good look at the champions. All of his pokemon are having a picnic in the nice, clean, garbage free Violet City. It's an impromptu picnic with a (real live) picnic blanket and lots of different kinds of home-made pokemon food and drink. Pidgeot's already cleaning his feathers while Cyndaquil sleeps on a tiny corner of the blanket. Lapras is swimming off its meal and enjoying the better weather more than any of his pokemon. And what of Poochy? She's still enjoying the food and finishing what the others couldn't.]

[The camera creeps closer to Poochy until it's nearly right in her face. She growls slightly.]

Poochy didn't want to battle. [Rin reaches over to pet her -- and she lets him without complaint.] You're not a battling type of girl, are you? But I did find something you were good at. She's better at it than the others are!

[Poochy almost seems to smile as she inches closer to Rin. She adores the praise.]

She eats anything. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have figured out how to make all of this food for them. Right, Poochy? [Poochy barks~ and returns to her meal.]

What sort of food do you feed your pokemon? They have that stuff at the Center and in the Mart but not everything's fresh. [Most of it's like instant noodles -- instant pokefood. And box stuff. And he'll only feed them that when he has nothing to give.] There's a pokémon restaurant somewhere, right? With high-class foreign food?

[Apollo likes how you're treating your Pokémon, Rin. He'd give you a thumbs-up if he knew what that was. He's holding the PokéGear in one hand as he's walking along the beginning of Route 30 with a Sentret on his shoulder, so there's Jitter Cam in effect.]

Whatever they say they want, mostly. We're watching for edible plants while we're walking, but Spearow likes meat better and Sentret really likes this celery plant that the Mart was selling.

[The Sentret tilts her head slightly as she hears "celery" but Apollo doesn't look over at her when she does. His cloak shifts a bit as he does something off camera.] Okay, okay. You can have another one. [His other hand appears from below with a celery stick, which the Sentret takes and begins nibbling on.]

Edible plants... that's useful on the road. [Especially in a place like this, where nothing was familiar. He knew his friend would have had a field day with all the unfamiliar fauna. Well, unfamiliar to Rin and his untrained eyes.]

[Interactions between trainer and pokemon had a way of bringing a smile to Rin's face. It really was like a partnership, just as someone else had told him. Watching it in action, however, was like watching a painting come to life. He liked it.]

Poochy doesn't have any favorites, but Quil likes salty foods. If I'm not watching him, he'll eat a whole bag of potato chips. That one's Quil. [And he swings the camera back towards the sleeping cyndaquil. Quil stretches and yawns loudly before curling back into a ball.]

You think Sentret and Spearow would want to try any of the food here? [It could be just his pokemon, but maybe he's on to something with making pokéfood from scratch...?]

Yeah. Since I can't eat any of the animals here I have to make the meat I bought last. The woman at the Mart couldn't tell me where the meat came from though. Sentret and Spearow don't know either. There has to be some animal that's being killed for it. Do you know?

[Apollo doesn't know what "potato chips" are, but he doesn't bother asking. He looks past Rin at the spread in the background.]

I don't know what any of that food is.

[Sentret seems like a very mild-mannered pokemon. He'd ask if all Sentret were like that, but it was a redundant question.]

I don't think any of them know or they won't tell. It's weird not knowing what it is, but it does taste okay. Then again, I'd rather know what I'm eating. What sort of meat did you have with you?

[The minute Johto's meat supply turns out to be something unsatisfactory he might turn vegan, but that's a discussion for another day.] It might be another pokemon, like some sort of edible species. Other than that, I have no clue.

[He's a little proud of the meal he's made, even if he's not entirely sure how good it is.]

Most of it's just stuff I put together for them.

[Snorts at the second part though.] More like low class, though he did work in a restaurant in the East Blue. The brat is Straw-Hat Luffy. Back home I'm going to catch him, but he's only eight here. So it's complicated. His chef is a pirate chef who cooks for their crew. He's not here anymore though.

Mine eat pretty much the same stuff I do, other than the birds. They go for the seeds I get at the Mart and whatever fruit I have on me.

Yeah. Levels go up and it's a different type. If you're going in order, Azalea town would be next, and it's a gym full of bug types.

Fruit? Beans. Bacon. [Uhh. Not a whole lot different than that. He doesn't eat very well 8|] Rice sometimes.
