[He laughs a little at that, in part to hide his embarrassment from that statement. They are friends. That's the important thing. And maybe Kaneki's a friend too, if he's not too mad at him. It would make sense, since he did mess with the guy's food.]
Hey hey, I get it. The guy's pretty gullible, but you think he's really the type who'd listen? Even if I told him to stay the hell away from the green steamed bun, I think he'd still take it.
...You want me to show you how to make some stuff? [Even as he asks, he's not sure if it's such a good idea. She's definitely still mad and it'll take more than just cooking... but he figured he'd at least ask.] That way, you can make the best food for him. Since he's your friend too.
[And even though Maka gets along better with Kaneki, it doesn't mean that he's any less her friend than before.]
[A moment of consideration--well, he's right, Rin's simply The Best at the cooking thing, and Maka wants to make the best if she's going to serve it to other people.]
I don't know a lot about cooking Japanese food, at any rate. Mom only showed me a little bit before she left. And if I'm being shown by you, that cuts down on potential for you to make mischief anyway.
[That's a "yes" in a very backwards Maka way.]
I already told him that I'm not a prodigy at it like you are, but I'd do my best.
[................ Maka please. It's flattering, but he's not about to entertain a high pedestal like that.]
I'm not a prodigy, I just like to cook. That's the only reason I'm good at it.
Anyway, since you already know about Japanese food, it's not gonna take you long to pick it up. You got the hang of making rice balls, right? You're already one step closer!
[Al was not directly involved with the Wasabi Incident, nor was he made immediately aware of the mess that was the days following it. In fact, he only heard about it in passing, bare of most of the details save the important ones. But it was enough to get the idea.]
[It's been a while since he had an excuse to pull a really good prank.]
[Al was very careful balancing the chemicals for this little batch, testing on Lust and Envy's shedded tangles of death from the shower to make sure it would work right. But now the time has come to put his hard work to the test. The shampoo and conditioner were spiked the day previous, and now all Al has to do is wait for the results.]
[Rin's been having a bad hair day. Too many of his smaller pokemon (read: Dedenne and Murkrow) have been using Rin's hair as a literal nest.
He found twigs in his hair. Twigs and string. The dumb part of it all is that he washes his hair regularly. How in the hell did he miss twigs and random colorful pieces of string in his hair? The world may never know.
So he does the thing he does every morning, before breakfast. Things got worse after the shower + shampoo + conditioner routine. Not only did he not find his hair dryer but - but - but!!!
...HE LOOKED IN THE MIRROR.
It took him a moment too long to realize that it was, indeed, his reflection. It took even longer for him to freak out about it. He may have liked that Shima had pink hair but that didn't mean he wanted it too!? Rin's just about to call up Yukio when Al's message comes through first. Good! Al knows things!]
[He'd just been thinking and dwelling, like the loser he is.]
I... Well. You had extended an invitation to me months ago, to catch up with you and your companions. But I hadn't... formally introduced myself. And I didn't wish to intrude so I... didn't.
[He sighs softly. He's just being awkward, don't mind him. But if he's going to do an introduction, he'll do so correctly. He turns the screen on to video, and you see his face for all of a second before he bows at the screen.]
[Rin has yet to learn of a few things involving pokegears and video feeds. For one, he never did figure out how to turn off PokeStar. For another, he hadn't realized that he could have kept his end of the conversation 'voice only'.
Rin looks just the same, except for the fact that his black roots have grown in and the rest of his hair is a faded pink. At least it doesn't seem to bother him much. Rin's more interested in Rei's introduction.]
Nice to meet you again, dude. [Should he bow back? ... Rin bows back? And waves. That's important.] uhm, Rin Okumura. But you knew that already!
